Dental Crown

We can help get your tooth back to working order.
A crown is a “cap” or covering that wraps and protects the entire visible surface of your damaged tooth. A crown works to strengthen the tooth while protecting the existing structure, extending the life of the tooth longer than it would be with a filling or another restoration. A dental crown is custom created based on molds of your mouth so that it will fit your tooth and bite pattern, which allows you to keep your natural tooth intact.

Reasons for Choosing a Dental Crown:

  • Fractured or broken teeth
  • Severely decayed teeth
  • Cosmetic imperfections, shape or appearance
  • Fractured fillings
  • Tooth protection needed after some root canals

The Dental Crown Procedure

Getting a crown is a relatively simple procedure with several benefits to enjoy. When you come in to get your procedure done, you will first be given a local anesthetic to keep you comfortable. During this visit, the tooth will be cleaned and any decay will be removed. We will then shape your tooth to fit a crown and take an impression of your teeth. The impression will be sent to the lab where a custom fit crown is made just for you. We will fabricate a temporary crown for your tooth while you are waiting for your permanent crown to be finished. This will be ready in several weeks and you will return so we can make final adjustments and cement the crown in place.

After your appointment, we'll encourage you to follow up with us regularly. While proper daily oral hygiene is essential, you'll also need regular dental care to ensure that you receive the optimal life expectancy of your new crown.
