If you are really trying to keep sugars out of your diet and off your teeth, where they can cause enormous damage, it is easier said than done. Often, sugar is hiding in places you don't think about when you are trying to eat healthy for good overall health as well as dental health. So how can you eat healthy and keep sugar out of your diet? We have some suggestions for you. Cucumbers with Lemon, Olive Oil and Pepper Have a craving for something with a little kick to it? Try sliced cucumbers mixed with lemon juice, olive oil and cayenne pepper. Cucumbers are hydrating, high in fiber (which fights damaging acids on your teeth) and low in calories. Also, cayenne pepper acts as a jumpstart to your immune system, which may help protect your teeth as well. Popcorn We're not talking about that movie popcorn slathered in salt and butter. Instead, why not throw in some ingredients like vegan butter, cayenne pepper, paprika, lemon juice, garlic and onion powder and sea salt? Your teeth (and your immune system) will thank you. SmoothiesMany people use smoothies as a great breakfast treat, but it can also take the place of a dessert. Why not try bananas, blueberries and pears, along with healthy greens to make a delicious and sweet treat- all without sugar of course. Other smoothie options can include mango and strawberries with greens, and almond butter with banana. If you are looking for ways to keep your teeth at their healthy best, why not make an appointment with us? There are lots of things we can discuss with you so that you can keep your body and your mouth as healthy as possible. We can show you how to keep your great smile for life! |
